About Us

A music initiative that brings normality back into the lives of patients and their carers.

Founded in 2023, Musings About was an initiative that was set up by a group of medical students who were passionate about music and wanted to bring healing and comfort to patients in Queensland hospitals.

Our Story

We started off as a group of five third year medical students who saw a great need for more activities for patients in the palliative and geriatric wards. As lovers of music and students of medicine, we saw a great opportunity to be able to provide comfort through the universal language of music which connects all. We began playing music at the Princess Alexandra Hospital's foyer which was a great platform to reach patients, their families, carers and staff during lunch breaks. Many audience members expressed how important music was to them and how it made a positive difference to their day. Since then, we have extended our performances to St Vincent's Hospital and to other healthcare students that are as passionate as us.
